HÄNSSLER Kunststoff- und Dichtungstechnik GmbH
HÄNSSLER Kunststoff- und Dichtungstechnik GmbH has been delivering engineering expertise and manufacturing experience "Made in Germany" for over 30 years. The company develops customized solutions from one-offs to batches and large series. Depending on the quantity, material, and intended use, HÄNSSLER works with 3D printing, plastic machining, or plastic injection molding. Digitalization means that the company is constantly evolving. To optimize its business processes, it initially introduced a new ERP system that flexibly maps operational processes and grows with them. abas ERP corresponds exactly to these requirements, so after a detailed analysis and consultancy, the IT experts from MAIT took over the implementation. The company recently successfully introduced the ThingWorx digitalization platform, enabling it to react even faster and more flexibly to new requirements. ThingWorx creates data transparency across all system boundaries.
Integrating PLM and ERP creates added value
The ERP software maps all processes relevant to the company in a user-friendly way. External systems—such as the Windchill PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system with approval logic for drawings and CAM programs—are fully integrated into the ERP solution through interfaces. A PTC CAD/PDM development (product data management) transfers the information directly to the company software. The "Hänel Lean-Lift" multifunctional container and HÄNSSLER's own calculation system are also integrated. HÄNSSLER links its flexible ERP system with the ThingWorx digitalization platform, taking advantage of a seamless data flow. The adaptability of Abas ERP meant that other systems such as the abas DMS (document management system), a CRM, and the warehouse system with integrated barcodes could also be connected quickly and easily after installation. MAIT also introduced the Abas APS (Advanced Planning and Scheduling) detailed planning system and the Breitenbach Time and Attendance system (ZMS). The ERP software is used consistently in all areas of the company, from Sales to Shipping. This not only avoided previously common duplicate entries, but also coordinated and optimized work steps in such a way that output could be increased in all departments.
The Industrial Internet of Things is the future
Disruptive processes are increasingly calling traditional business models into question. The trend towards digital networking is continuing unabated, particularly among manufacturing and retail companies. Digital systems are connecting people, machines, robots, products, and logistics more and more quickly. Not wanting to stand still either, HÄNSSLER will be setting up the "PTC ThingWorx Smart Connect Operations" innovation platform with the support of MAIT. This will enable HÄNSSLER to network and monitor the production machines and visualize important company data in real time via dashboards; for example, planning data from Abas ERP or information from the production systems. With ThingWorx from PTC, MAIT offers a platform to implement IIoT applications quickly and without a lot of programming, so that companies are always one step ahead in the digital transformation.
Integrating PLM and ERP creates added value
ThingWorx integrates visualizations into production processes. Intuitive design tools displayed on desktop, mobile, and wearable devices support people in complex tasks in their working environment, whether in warehousing, manufacturing, assembly, design, or in meetings with business partners. ThingWorx can project 3D content, CAD files, and data from third-party providers onto an object network in real time and visualize them.
